Lesson 1
Welcome to Properties of Potions. In this first lesson we will be making the Draught of Peace. Usually this potion is saved for your 5th or 6th year; however I really want you to experience some exciting potions that have definite properties that are easily visible. Throughout this term, you will all be making potions. Some of which might be a little difficult, however in the end for your final exam you will be drinking one of your potions and describing the affect. So let me begin with a little run-down about the Draught of Peace."
The Draught of Peace calms anxiety and soothes agitation. Therefore the property of this potion is a "feel good" property. This potion has to be exact otherwise it will not work, make sure that you look for the signs that your potion is going good. Remember the three "C's" in potion making: Color, Concentration, & Content.
Draught Of Peace:
The ingredients:
1 Table Spoon of Powdered moonstone,
3 drops of Syrup of hellebore,
2 Ashwinder eggs (frozen),
1g of Water,
3 drops of Pus of a bubotuber.
Light the cauldron fire, (this is when charms can come in handy...) Use 'Incendio' on it.
Bring a gallon of water to a boil. After the water boils add only a pint of pus of a bubotuber.
Now you have to wait for the pus to turn the water the deep red colour. Stir it.
The red colour signals the time when you can add the powdered moonstone. After the powdered moonstone is added it is time to boil the water for 10 minutes.
After this the potion should became a shade of purple.
Apart mix the ashwinder eggs, which at this point are still frozen, and put them in a container with the syrup of a hellebore. It’s very important that these two ingredients mix themselves. If they do not the potion is a total waste.
Give time to the two ingredients sit themselves. Then took the bowl holding the two ingredients and poured them into the cauldron and took two large steps back because the cauldron will explode and flames will be pouring out of the top of it. (BOOOOMM)
It should explode IF you did it right.
Took some of the potion and put it into a vile.
